This autumn has littered the ground with plump fruit: the chestnut, with its beautiful coppery skin. A symbol of much of Europe’s countryside, present in the old coppices of our land, the chestnut was once affectionately called “the bread tree”. The Land of Domaines Schlumberger is located on the slopes of a sandstone hill in the Vosges region, overlooking the Alsace Wine Route. For two hundred years, vines have been growing there under the abundant sunshine that warms the terraced landscape most of the day.
